TowCam One "Little Nell"

Overall length: 48 inches

TowCam One, nicknamed "Little Nell", was successfully tested in Lake Michigan in 2008. The recorded digital video images will be used to make a high-quality photomontage of Car Ferry #2, a 300 foot long shipwreck located in the southern end of Lake Michigan in 43 feet of water.

"Little Nell" was lowered down into the lake from a launch and recovery system (LRS) located off the rear of the support vessel.

TowCam One is currently being upgraded to a higher resolution camera package along with an on-board battery system, GPS, micro-processor, depth sensor, and digital compass.

Once the upgrades have been completed and field tested, "Little Nell" will be ready to record all of the images needed for the Illinois Historic Shipwreck Project (IHSP).
