Original Maritime Series
Wreck Raiders is an original Maritime DVD series created and written by the Nautical Archaeology Group.
Concept
Each new episode will cover some interesting facet of Great Lakes Maritime history. A story might feature either a well known or a not so well known shipwreck tale that had occurred during the early days of sail or one from more recent times.
Stories may also include those unusual discoveries that have been made in the Great Lakes such as downed World War II aircraft, missing civilian aircraft and vessels, or the German submarine that was sunk in Lake Michigan at the end of World War I.
It is not the intention of the Wreck Raider series to further investigate why or how a particular vessel was wrecked. Most of those facts are well documented and published. Instead, the series is meant merely to educate the viewer about the identity of, and the Maritime history of, each wreck or historic/prehistoric site. It will also reveal the methods and techniques commonly used to properly research and record an underwater project.
The ultimate goal of the Wreck Raider series is to raise a new public awareness and educational interest in the vast Maritime history of the Great Lakes Region.
Wreck Raiders DVD
This entire program has been designed for educational and entertainment purposes only and is suitable for all age groups to view. The intended running time for each episode will be 30 or 60 minutes in length.
Funding
This original series is intended for release to the public via cable and satellite TV, public TV, educational programming, DVD sales, etc.
The pilot program for the Wreck Raider series, entitled Episode One – Material Service Barge, will be used to promote the series concept to individual investors, production companies, or organizations for additional series funding.
The Wreck Raider series will be filmed on location and underwater in or around the Great Lakes region using the HD digital format.
